Update on my Fibromyalgia

Let's just say it.... Fibromyalgia Sucks !!!!  I had someone write to me on my MySpace page the other day and she said that she is 38 years old and her doctor thinks that she might have Fibro... She told me she does want to have Fibromyalgia. I had to
smile, because anyone who has Fibro would say the same thing. We all want to find the cure or get some answers to make the pain go away.
I saw the same Dr for over 2 years and her plan was to keep giving me different medications for the pain. So I was on Paxil, Prozac, Welbutrin ( which all of those are for Depression ) which is fine, but they all made me even more depressed. I tried Mobic and  Trazadone and a  few others. All of them depressed me so bad that I have to admit that when I went to bed at night I didn't want to wake up in the morning.
So I knew I was on my own and had to try something else.
My neighbor mentioned Bowen Therapy. I hadn't heard about this before, but
they consider it an alternative solution and at this point I was ready to try
something else, so I stopped taking all of the prescription medications my Dr
kept prescribing for me.
If you want to know all about Bowen Therapy, just pull it up on google.com
There are lots of websites explaining what it is. Now of course you are going
to get good reviews and bad reviews, but I am OK with that. All of our bodies
are different. Some people might do great on prescription medications and
I am happy for them, but for me they don't work.  I have only had 3 sessions
of the Bowen Therapy and it is a little weird, but I signed up for 10 sessions
and I am going to stick with it. What do I have to lose. It's going to help or
it won't and if it doesn't my next plan of action will be Acupuncture.  I will
keep looking for that magic answer.  If anyone is reading this and have any
thing that is working for them or just looking for a place to tell us your story
please join in.  People who don't have Fibro or Chronic Pain, just don't under
stand what it feels like to have this pain every day. I do think some of my friends
who get Migraines understand. When I was growing up, I hardly ever got
headaches, but because of the Fibro, I seemed to get headaches at least 2 or 3
times a week. Sometimes when I wake up in the morning and I will have a headache..... What is up with that..... grrrr   :^(

Anyway, I will post on here and stop by from time to time see if anyone needs to talk. I will let you know how my progress is going with the Bowen Therapy.

Thanks for listening....

Hugs,  Laura

Fibromyalgia

I was considering joining this Fibromyalgia Study Group.
I saw a commercial talking about Fibro and they gave
out their phone number and website " IFeelPain.com
Hmmm, maybe that will be the answer. I pulled up the
website and filled out the info on it and waited for
them to call me... A week later they did and we chatted
for awhile and set up an appt. They sent me all the
information that I was supposed to read over and
I needed to bring it back to sign up as one of their
guinee pigs... :^)  It wasn't going to cost me a thing
and at first I thought " WHY NOT " until I started
reading the material... Even though I feel crappy
50% of the time maybe more, depending on the day...
but when they started listing off all of the side effects
weight gain ( I just signed up with Jenny Craig for a
10 week program and just lost 5 pounds in the first
week.... noooo i am not going to take the chance of
weight gain Thank You Very Much ) headaches,
depression, blurry vision, Urinary Tract Infection,
Stroke, Accidental Injury, Chest Pain, also they claim
You may not get better during the study or you may
get worse.... HELLO..... oh how about this one.....
If you do feel relief and these drugs help you....
after being with the program after 3 1/2 months,
they take you off the pills and you are on your own
again... WHAT !!!!!   how crazy does that sound....
I only gave you a FEW of the side effects, but
I am not going to take any chances with this program.

I would love to hear of anyone who is taking any
prescriptions that are actually helping them.  I
am on  Trazadone/Desyrel 50 MG  right now and
am not feeling much difference, but it has only been
a couple weeks.

My husband has been great.... We went to Sleep Train
Mattress Store and ordered a Tempurpedic Bed which
has had great reviews and a few of our relatives swear
by them that it has helped there insomnia and back
pain.   If anybody has one I would love to hear if it
has helped you.

Do you have Fibromyalgia

I have been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia.  I actually was diagnosed with this disease 10 years ago while in its early stages, but we didn't know a whole lot about it. Most Drs thought it was all in your head.

I am looking for other people who are suffering with Fibromyalgia to have a support
group on here. It might be helpful to have people talk about their condition and maybe
have some ideas on how to make their day easier to cope with. Someone might also
have some answers that we don't have.

I am going on 49 in November and my Fibromyalgia pain and symptoms have really
flared up in the last year. I have suffered with headaches, chest pains, dizziness,
Fibrofog, neck pain, insomnia, depression, fatigue, achiness and morning stiffness.

I have found some good websites on google explaining the symptoms and some
treatments. I get a massage twice a month and I am on some pain medication,
but so far I am getting no relief.

I do try hard to exercise 30 minutes a day whether it is walking my dogs, walking
on a treadmill or riding an exercise bike... I also try to lay on the floor to stretch
out.

But I would love to get some feedback from anyone who might have some answers
on how to deal with the pain day to day.
